[toggle title=”Regulatory Environment”]

The Lithuanian regulatory environment is relatively relaxed, providing a liberal business environment and free-market economy. The government has reformed investment laws to conform to EU standards and established an international network of double taxation treaties. Foreign investors can benefit from the unrestricted movement of capital and dividends, and purchase of Lithuanian companies.

Lithuanian banking is relatively simple. The country offers the full range of international banking facilities, including foreign exchange and international payments, on which there are no restrictions. A local corporate bank account must be set up during incorporation.

The available financial incentives in Lithuania are centred regionally, on the three Free Economic Zones in the cities of Klaipeda, Utena and Kaišiadorys. Foreign investors can benefit from tax exemption on dividends paid on foreign investments, EU support funds if setting up in Klaipeda, and tax reductions if investing more than €1 million in the country.
